Carcelona (2011)
Title: Carcelona / Editorial: Melusina / City: Barcelona / Year: 2011
The short chronicles of Marc Caellas relate sensations experienced by a native in his mid-thirties who, after living for a decade in the most populous cities of Latin America, returns to the streets of the “pristine resort” or “children’s theme park”, as the author defines the city after two years of wise pateo. The streets hardly keep memory of the secrets of previous stages, thanks to the remodeling and the design that wraps with nouveau riche glamour, for example, the Catalan and Spanish cuisine substitutes of the downtown restaurants at excessive euros per plate.
Carcelona is more than an antioxidant, it is the revulsive against the farce that disgusts. The small piece of an indignant that keeps the sword up with talent. Talent is harmful to the mediocre and is not bought with money. Carcelona can help to put a period to the decadence of a city-state that deserves less corrupt rulers, a daring press and more awake citizens. And if not to the squares, which belong to us, like the public money and the culture that pleases us.
